Learning Objective: To explore possible tasks and research similar products.
The purpose of the product is to showcase vintage street wear to the audience of 14-18 year olds. The product appeals to the target audience by using bright contrasting colours. The magazine is unique and quirky. I like the layout and colours of the magazine however, I would change the clothing to retro clothing as I think that this would appeal to the target audience of 14-18 year olds more.

Fashion magazine codes and conventions:
- Large, bold masthead stretching from one side of the magazine to the other at the top in a colour which either compliments or contrasts the overall dress of the focus in the image.
- Colour scheme of 3-4 bright, strong colours, usually including elements of white.
- Quotes from interviews and cover lines.
- Covers include one large image of model to attract people to the magazine, without secondary images, and cover lines surrounding the focus of the image explaining the contents of the magazine.
- Cover lines are different sizes depending on their importance.
- Images used are striking with high-key lighting as the lightness and brightness gives a feeling of freshness and youthfulness. In a lot of the images, contrast is not used, however, there is either strong or hard lighting on the model to make the cover 'pop' and give it an edge while retaining the fresh mood of a high key image.

“slow fashion”: locally grown materials, often domestically manufactured or sourced on a relatively small scale.
Fast fashion’s negative impact includes its use of cheap, toxic textile dyes—making the fashion industry the second largest polluter of clean water globally after agriculture.
polyester is one of the most popular fabrics. It is derived from fossil fuels, contributes to global warming, and can shed microfibres that add to the increasing levels of plastic in our oceans when washed.
The processing of leather also impacts the environment, with 300kg of chemicals added to every 900kg of animal hides tanned.
The processing of leather also impacts the environment, with 300kg of chemicals added to every 900kg of animal hides tanned.
Animals are also impacted by fast fashion—by the toxic dyes released in waterways and the microfibres ingested by ocean life. When animal products such as leather and fur are used, animal welfare is put at risk.
The real issue with fast fashion is the speed at which it is produced, putting massive pressure on people and the environment
“93% of brands surveyed by the Fashion Checker aren’t paying garment workers a living wage (Fashion Checker, 2020)
85% of the plastic pollution in the ocean is due to microfibers from synthetic materials that can take up to 200 years to decompose.
